Question Title When I accelerate, my car starts making a knocking sound.

Question:
When I accelerate, my car starts making a knocking sound. It jerks along like a shift shock without the shift. I'm find when it's coasting.  When I stop, the car sputters like it is going to stall, but doesn't. Help!

Answer:
I would recommend that you have an auto technician look at the car. There are many possibilities for what you are experiencing. I would also not recommend driving the car until it is determined what the problem is. I would have it towed to a repair facility. By doing so what ever may be causing the knock will not cause further damage.
